These sweet and smoky chicken wings are the easiest crowd-pleaser you’ll make all season. The whole thing starts with a simple dry rub of our Sweet & Smoky BBQ blend — honey, maple sugar, smoked paprika, and rosemary — that caramelizes on the grill or in the oven into a sticky, deeply savory crust. No marinade and no fuss: just pat the wings dry, toss them in the blend, and grill until they’re charred at the edges and cooked through.

The magic is the last touch. The moment the wings come off the heat, they get a drizzle of hot honey that soaks into the char while everything’s still hot — sweet, a little spicy, and impossible to stop eating. Ready in about 40 minutes, they’re perfect for game day, a backyard cookout, or an easy appetizer, and they’ll be the first thing gone at any table.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb Chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes

  • 1 Tbsp Olive oil

  • 2 Tbsp Calicutts Sweet & Smoky BBQ blend

  • 1 tsp Baking powder, (optional — for extra-crisp skin)

  • 1 Tbsp Hot Honey blend

  • 2 Scallions, thinly sliced

  • 1 tsp Toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

  1. Heat a grill to medium-high (about 400°F). For the oven, heat to 425°F and set a wire rack over a foil-lined sheet pan.

  2. Pat the wings very dry. In a bowl, toss them with the olive oil, Sweet & Smoky BBQ blend, and baking powder (if using) until evenly coated.

  3. Grill 25–30 minutes, turning every 5–7 minutes, until deeply caramelized and cooked through (165°F internal). Oven: roast 40–45 minutes, flipping once, until crisp.

  4. Pile the hot wings into a serving bowl.

  5. Sprinkle Hot Honey over the wings, toss once, and scatter the scallions and sesame seeds on top. Serve immediately. We love to couple this with a side of sour cream and our Ranch blend whipped together.
